Getting there

Trincomalee is about 257 KM from the Capital City Colombo (See map on right).
The journey there is generally a 5 to 6 hour affair. Public Transport is periodically
available but could take longer (10 to 12 hours)

Flying to Sri Lanka: The only International Airport in Sri Lanka is the Bandaranaike
International Airport situated about 30 KM north of Colombo.

Dive Season

Diving here is April to October.

Accommodation

There are plenty of very comfortable hotels & guest houses in Nilaveli Beach stretch a
few kilometers north of Trincomalee town.

Where to eat

All the hotels & guest houses in the area offer decent food and a reasonable variety.
Sea food is widely available as well.

Transport within Nilaveli & Trincomalee town.

Public transport is cheap but may not be readily available, especially between
Trincomalee and the Nilavali based hotels & guest houses. You could also use the
omnipresent Three Wheelers (Tuk-Tuks). Always agree on the price before you get in.
Prices vary and it is best you get advice from your Dive Center or Hotel about prices
before you hail one. The hotel you stay at will also be happy to organize transport.

The journey to Trincomalee is long but takes you through a varied terrain. It is not
uncommon to see herds of wild elephants early in the morning and late in the evening
between Habarana and Trincomalee.
