The beaches of Unawatuna are world class and world famous. Long stretches of pristine sand is a much sought after paradise for beach goers. Completely rebuilt after the devastating 2004 Tsunami 9.0, Unawatuna is back in business with excellent beach side accommodation and wide variety of restaurants catering to different cuisine.
Diving in Unawatuna is excellent too. This is one place we have consistently encountered the Giant Maori Wrasse (a.k.a. Napoleon). There are also many beautiful ship wrecks and dive sites with rocky formations covered with Black Coral.
