Dive Beruwala (www.DiveSriLanka.com) West Coast Diving - November through May |
||||||||
The currents can be strong here. And when there is current, there is fish! Shoals and shoals of fish. The dive sites are at least half and hour away from the shore on a slow one engine boat. But the wait is worth. In these magnificient rock formations you coud loose yourself entirely. The dive sites here are deeper than 20 meters. During season whale sharks are sometimes spotted between these dive sites. So while you could be engrossed just by the rocks and what you find there; always look back and peer into the deep blue. You could spot something big! |

A beautiful multilevel rock formation. We see Trevally, Snappers and Great Barracuda on almost every dive. If you enter the water very carefully and without much of a splash, then immediately look below you may be lucky enough to see Reef Sharks stealthily sliding away into the distant gloom.

Lovely rock formation which looks like three of Obelix's menhirs placed together. The bottom levels out at 28 M with sporadic plantations of Black Coral. A good chance of seeing huge schools of Trevally, Snappers and Great Barracuda, Giant Maori Wrasse along with the usual suspects. Click here for pictures.

The deepest shipwreck in Sri Lanka. This could be the MV Tricolor that sank off the coast of Beruwala in 1931 after a catastrophic explosion.
