Skunk Clownfish

Appearance

The Skunk Clownfish has a pale pinkish-orange body with a single white stripe running from the nose along the top of the back to the tail — no vertical bars, unlike many of its relatives.

Distribution & Habitat

Found across the Indian Ocean and western Pacific, from East Africa to Indonesia and the Andaman Sea, on coral reef slopes and lagoons.

Host Anemones & Behavior

Typically hosted by Heteractis magnifica and Stichodactyla mertensii. Like all anemonefish, it is a protandrous hermaphrodite living in a small social group led by a dominant female, and feeds on zooplankton, algae, and leftover scraps from its host anemone.
